RFP-5 SMU - Sheet-Of-Light Measuring Unit

To the TIRE EXPO 2004 SEICHTER GmbH showed RFP-5 SMU. The system is based on the light cut procedure. It consists of a combination of laser and intelligent high speed camera as well as a framegrabber and a SMU interface. The arrangement in the RFP-5 Positioning System permits an evaluation according to the triangulation principle. In English for the laminar image analysis of this laser projection the term Sheet-OF-Light was established.

With the Fraunhofer Institute license agreements were met over an image analysis procedure "Tirechecker". This is able to recognize bulges, depressions and runout at tires and to make harmonic analysis. A special method of analysis evaluates the curvature of the sidewall and permits to filter out characters and pin vents.

The Sheet-Of-Light sensor rounds up the RFP-5 System for tire geometry. It is applicable into the RFP-5 Positioning-System alternatively to existing capacitive or laser sensors !
